It’s finally here! Vocal extraordinaire Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja‘s under the spotlight this week! Watch this package of dynamite kill it onstage with us at FASO@10 on Saturday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alex Theatre. Read on to learn more about Malea Emma!

1. After singing the national anthem at an LA Galaxy game last month, Malea Emma became an overnight internet phenomenon! News agencies worldwide covered her performance! Malea Emma was even interviewed on “Good Morning America“, “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” and CNN’s “New Day.” Here’s the performance that started it all!

2. Malea Emma’s met and collaborated with cool music icons too! Her performance in a Hollywood Bowl production of “Annie” with Lea Salonga received glowing reviews from the LA Times, Broadway World and Times Square Chronicles. On “Good Morning America,” she sang “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” with original Dreamgirl Jennifer Holliday. Her idol Christina Aguilera retweeted this video of her performance and invited her backstage before her concert at Radio City Music Hall.

3. Her father told USA today that Malea Emma’s been “singing forever, basically before she could speak. Sometimes we have to tell her to be quiet.” Malea Emma’s clearly dedicated to her art and her awards definitely show that! Malea Emma’s won first place in competitions including American Protégé Winners Recital at Carnegie Hall, San Gabriel Valley’s Got Talent, the Riverside County Fair Vocal Competition, among others.

4. Malea Emma isn’t just a vocalist. She’s an accomplished actor, having appeared in commercials for Kiehl’s, Amazon and East West Bank. She also has credits in the parody horror TV series “Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories” and the upcoming short film titled “Mother of Three,” scheduled for release next year! She also models, dances, swims, plays violin and piano, and speaks Indonesian and Mandarin! Watch her Kiehl’s commercial below!

5. In her free time, Malea loves singing and posting covers on her YouTube channel. Check it out here!

International Space Development Conference Filipino Heritage Night & Fashion Show

One small step for Filipino Heritage Night, one giant leap for Filipinos attending the International Space Development Conference 2018 (ISDC)!

At the ISDC Filipino Heritage Night & Fashion Show organized by the National Space Society, Filipino Heritage Night will have an opportunity to showcase Philippine culture and arts! The evening will feature performances by Filipino American Symphony Orchestra Music Education & Outreach students, vocalists Nayah Damasen, Mikaela Bautista and Christina Blay, singing ventriloquist Shane Selloria, violinist Erica Delos Santos, flautist John Robert Santiago and pianist JP Rogers! Costume and fashion designer Carl Andrada of Carmelo Designs will showcase Philippine-inspired costumes that have gained him acclaim in Los Angeles beauty pageants and fashion shows. Kayamanan ng Lahi, a non-profit cultural organization whose mission is to preserve, promote and present the richness and diversity of Philippine culture through dance and music to educate, entertain and enrich, will also be featured as part of the evening’s highlights. Filipino American actor Reggie Lee is featured as a special guest. Lee has appeared in TV shows and movies such as “Grimm”, “Prison Break” and “Pirates of the Caribbean”. He’ll be a recipient of a Recognition Certificate from Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti.

This International Space Development Conference is another landmark for the National Space Society. This year, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos will receive the prestigious Gerard K. O’Neill Memorial Award for Space Settlement Advocacy at the conference. The ISDC aims to present the latest ideas and plans for space travel, space development and space settlements and to offer an opportunity for Filipinos to meet and hear from high-profile speakers and special guests in space travel, such as legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin.

Filipino Heritage Night is a collaborative project underwritten by the Historic Filipinotown Neighborhood Council (HiFiNC) through its President Cecilia Ramos and Vice President Leo Pandac, is and supported by the Philippine Consulate Office under the direction of Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz.

Programming is provided by Kayamanan ng Lahi through its leaders Joel and Ave Jacinto and Barbara Ele.

Proceeds benefit Historic Filipinotown Festival 2018 and the HiFiTown Gateway West Project.
